Kinugawa Turbo Dual Port Adjustable Internal Wastegate Actuator Head — Replacement Diaphragm Head with Spring Options

Kinugawa Turbo Dual Port Adjustable Internal Wastegate Actuator Head — Replacement Diaphragm Head with Spring Options
Kinugawa Turbo Dual Port Adjustable Internal Wastegate Actuator Head — Replacement with Spring Options
The Kinugawa Dual Port Adjustable Internal Wastegate Actuator Head is a direct replacement head for Kinugawa turbo adjustable single-port actuators, upgrading them to dual-port operation for more precise, bidirectional boost control. The diaphragm shares the same design as the single-port type and features a copper spacer with oil rings to prevent leakage in the bottom chamber. Note: the displacement rod may still exhibit minor seepage, which is normal for this design.
Available in eight spring pressure ratings from 0.3 bar to 2.0 bar, this replacement head lets you retune your existing actuator for a different boost target without replacing the full assembly. Select your target spring pressure from the variant selector above.
Compatible Application
- Direct replacement for Kinugawa turbo adjustable single-port actuator head
- Upgrades single-port actuator to dual-port operation
- Compatible with Kinugawa adjustable internal wastegate actuator assemblies
Available Spring Pressure Options
- 0.3 bar (4.4 psi)
- 0.5 bar (7.4 psi)
- 0.8 bar (11.8 psi)
- 1.0 bar (14.7 psi)
- 1.2 bar (17.6 psi)
- 1.5 bar (21.8 psi)
- 1.7 bar (24.7 psi)
- 2.0 bar (29.0 psi)
Single Port vs. Dual Port — What’s the Difference?
Single Port Actuators
Boost reference is supplied to one side of the diaphragm. The wastegate opens in one direction; spring pressure alone handles the return stroke and holds the wastegate closed. Best suited for basic boost control via a manual boost controller (MBC) or electronic boost controller (EBC). Simple plumbing, straightforward setup — ideal for street and mild performance builds.
Dual Port Actuators
Boost reference is supplied to both sides of the diaphragm, enabling bidirectional control of the wastegate — both opening and closing. Spring pressure is pneumatically assisted on the return stroke, allowing a softer spring to achieve the same or higher boost targets with greater precision. Recommended for high-boost applications, high exhaust backpressure environments, or oversized wastegates. Best used with an EBC for maximum tunability.
Tech Tip: Dual port actuator heads can also be run as a traditional single port — simply leave the lower actuator port vented to atmosphere.
Spring Pressure Setup & Preload Reference
Use the spring pressure tables below to identify the correct spring for your target boost level and to set the appropriate preload. Spring surface paint is used for color identification only — it does not affect spring function or performance.
How to Replace the Actuator Spring
Watch the video below to learn how to replace the spring on a Kinugawa adjustable wastegate actuator.
How to Preload the Actuator Rod for Higher Boost
You can preload the actuator rod to achieve a boost pressure higher than the installed spring rating. Follow the step-by-step guides in the videos below.
